Never Trust Anyone Under Thirty

After finagling a pass to the Rolling Stone 1000 party last night, I was treated to free whiskey, a beer, a terrible cover of "Dance To The Music" by openers the Rolling Stone Cover Band and, um, the Strokes. I'll spare you the details about how my friend and I passed the hour and fifteen minutes in between acts, but let's say that when Jules and the boys kick off with "Someday", it was goodtimesville and we were both the mayors. Highlights of the Strokers set included Eddie Vedder coming to sing "Juicebox" and me not being able to tell the difference between his voice and Julian's and the still very ripped for being an old dude Lou Reed joining the Strokes for a cover "Walk On The Wild Side". I'm sure other folks posted setlists, but what you need to know is that "Repilia", "The Modern Age" and "You Only Live Once" all gave us reason to trust that this band is still the shit, any stage, any time. Now if only there were any people under 30 there last night to have enjoyed it as much as I did...
